The J-6 QD System consists of a Trunnion assembly, which is the heart of the system. The trunnion replaces the typical barrel nut. It slips over the barrel threads and aligns on the receiver to match up with the gas tube port. Once in place, the castle nut is tightened down to complete mounting to the upper receiver. The Trunnion houses the QD latch and Locking pin, which lock and unlock the Barrel Collars. The Handguard sleeve mounts to the trunnion and can be replaced with different styles as they become available. The best part of this QD system is that you are NOT removing the whole handguard every time you swap barrels.
The System comes with two Barrel Collars, allowing you to set up two QD barrels of your choosing. You can buy extra collars as needed. The Barrel Collar slips over your existing barrel and is locked in place over the chamber area of the barrel. Once installed and centered, you install your gas block and gas tube of choice on the barrel. The Collar serves two purposes: 1. align and lock into the Trunnion, 2. support the gas tube. It also comes with a carry handle that allows you to extract a hot barrel from your firearm without touching the barrel. It can also be used to guide the new barrel in, should you choose to do so. While we designed this Barrel Collar to fit most AR pattern barrels, we understand there may be tolerance issues between manufacturers. In this case, we supply shims that fit between the collar and barrel extension so you can get an exact fit, if needed.
The Handguard Sleeve is an M-LOK®-only handguard that mounts to the trunnion. It allows for any combination of M-LOK® accessories to be mounted. It has both the take-down lever and guide cut running the length at about 2 o'clock, where the Carry handle rides in. We will be offering NATO rail sleeves as well as open-top sleeves in the near future.
